Brought together by Ella Weldon, the two shot the short in Cape Town, South Africa, weaving together a hyperrealistic journey of three lost souls travelling from the dark unknown to the light on the road of the dreamer. The expand on the meaning of EP also titled “Lonely Road of The Dreamer”, using the car as a vehicle for the metaphor of the journey out of battling the demons of depression into a new light & perspective as young people trying to cut a completely new path in life.
Louis VI, becoming known for his genre-bending hip hop opens the film with an emotional wash of sound from self-produced 'Please Be There", a plea from a struggling artist to his close bredrins & family to have patience in him & his dream. The lyrics are a summary of the rapper/producer's life to that point and the darkness interjected with glimmers of light, beautifully shot by Alfonzo, the film shows frustration coupled with hope & determination which lifts into defiant rebellion of three friends as the visual moves into the 'Freeparking' track, the lead single from the EP. The film features African artists Flexpressionist SEE FLEX THE ARTIST & Actress/ Visual Storyteller Thandi Gula-Ndebele with styling by Athlone, Cape Town clothing designer Andre Bird (The ABC collection) (also featuring clothes from Black Chilli Style). "South Africa is a unique place, politically, socially, creatively, musically, racially, the nature, nothing there is low-key. It has a unique energy. It is so soaked by the past rawness but it's a place that could have a dope future too. Some of the most inspiring young people of colour I've ever met are there."
